Is There a Risk from Exposure to PBO in Food and Drinking Water?
A comprehensive risk assessment by the U.S. EPA analysis shows that, even with conservative assumptions, short term and long term exposure to PBO in the diet (from treated food crops) and drinking water is at a level below their threshold of concern (U.S. EPA, 2006). This applies in exposures to both the general population as well as children ages one to two years old (the highest exposed sub-population).
